ON SET CINEMA
ON SET CINEMA is an ongoing film series that takes fandom a step further with rare movie screenings of cult favorites and horror classics at their actual filming locations. Created by Kenny Caperton, who lives in a life-size replica of Michael Myers’ house from John Carpenter’s original Halloween.

We all know there's
only so close you can get to a movie when you're watching it at home from the couch or inside a movie theater …but what if you could step into the screen for a moment?

 

Watch movies like The Lost Boys, Sleepaway CampIt Follows, Empire Records and Children of the Corn at the actual spots where a lot of the action takes place - whether that’s inside a small town department store where Sarah Michelle Gellar ran for her life in I Know What You Did Last Summer or at the Summer Camp where Jason Voorhees knocks off a bunch of camp counselors in Jason Lives, ON SET CINEMA takes you there!

Travel back in time with me to the 1980’s! I have teamed up with my friend Scott Leftwich for our epic annual HORROR MOVIE / CLASSIC ARCADE NIGHTS! Scott has the largest private collection of arcade games on the entire East Coast! …aka “Wieners and Losers Arcade” in Winston-Salem, NC. 


Join us on Saturday, March 1st & Sunday, March 2nd for a couple awesome nights of neon lights, wood grain walls, mouthwatering milkshakes, E.T. lamps, 80’s horror movies playing on TVs around the arcade, vinyl jukeboxs, vintage diner booths, Motley Crue posters …and an entire classic arcade filled with over 135 games on free play!


All of the arcade games are from the 1970's to 1984 representing the golden age of classic arcades!  ...including Death Race, Journey, Dig Dug, Joust, Q*bert, Galaga, Defender, Satan’s Hollow and 8 games in which there are less than 10 known to exist in the world (Locomotion, Munch Mobile, Levers, Mad Crasher, Mars, and more) ...and you can even play the first ever commercial video game in existence - Computer Space from 1971! 


I can't explain just how incredible this place is - once you enter the arcade, you are completely transported back in time! Attendees are encouraged to dress 80's or wear your favorite 80's pop culture or horror movie t-shirt. Tickets are super limited for these events.


For an even more immersive experience, there’s an option to stay overnight! You can sleep in an '80s-themed bedroom featuring wood-grain walls, a tube TV with a collection of VHS tapes, an '80s stereo stocked with cassettes & vinyl, and access to every video game console system ever made - from the earliest models to CD-based platforms. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can spend the night inside the actual arcade on an air mattress!

I'll be showing the movie inside Rebellion Restaurant ...aka EMPIRE and joined by special guest Craig Edwards who played the unforgettable male Rex Manning fan in the movie. Craig was also a production assistant on the film and worked directly with the actors the entire shoot! He will be signing autographs, taking photos with fans and doing a Q&A after the screening ...oh, the stories.


Rebellion is a great restaurant and bar in the heart of downtown Wilmington that is located in the actual building where “Empire Records” was filmed! The interiors of the record store were a set, but the exteriors of Empire, including the block party concert and the rooftop scenes were filmed at this location!

I'm also offering a filming locations walking tour around downtown Wilmington with me and Craig Edwards earlier in the day to show fans where some other scenes from the movie took place. Craig will have lots of great behind-the-scenes stories to tell everyone!

Join On Set Cinema on Friday, April 11, 2025 for a very special screening of “HALLOWEEN KILLS” in Wilmington, North Carolina at Cape Fear Community College ...aka Haddonfield Memorial Hospital! This is the actual building where the HMH exterior scenes were filmed! 


I will be screening the movie inside this building, just beyond the doors where Laurie Strode was wheeled in on a stretcher after being brutally attacked by Michael Myers. This is the location where the majority of the cast, including legacy characters Marion Chambers and Lindsey Wallace, come together to start the hunt for Myers and also where hundreds of extras chant “Evil Dies Tonight” and Tivoli jumps to his death from one of the hospital windows.


I'm excited to announce that Tom Jones Jr, who played Dr. Samuel Loomis in the 1978 flashback scenes will be a special guest at this event! He'll be signing autographs and doing a Q&A before the screening. I'm also encouraging anyone who was an extra during any of the hospital scenes to attend this event - all hospital extras are able to get discounted tickets to this event and will be invited to participate in a Q&A before the screening to share their stories. 


This is the first time I've ever done a screening at this location and I'm super excited! This is going to be a blast!

Who's ready for another epic ON SET CINEMA overnight camping event?! Experience TERROR ...in the flesh on Saturday, May 17th - Sunday, May 18th, 2025 in Mount Airy, North Carolina at a very special screening event for Eli Roth's “CABIN FEVER”!


For the first time ever, fans will be able to visit and stay all night at the actual camp where the majority of the movie was filmed! Founded in 1954, this historic camp is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on over 3,200 acres of beautiful wilderness. Fans will get an authentic throwback camp experience - shared cabin camping with bunk beds, campfires with s’mores, community dining hall with games, hiking trails ...and all you can drink tap-water!


Fans will also be able to hang out and explore the cabin featured in the movie that college students Jeff, Marcy, Paul, Karen and Bert rent for a vacation getaway in the woods. So many scenes were filmed at this location - this is where the group roasts marshmallows and tells scary stories around a campfire, where we meet Grim and Dr. Mambo, where Henry The Hermit gets set on fire, where Karen rots away in the quarantine shack, where Marcy gets eaten by a wild dog, where Jeff gets blown away by cops after nearly surviving and so much more!


I'm excited to announce that actor Tim Parati (“The Walking Dead,” “A Time to Kill,” “The Crow”), who played Andy in “Cabin Fever” will be a special guest at this event! This will be his first time returning to the camp since filming took place in 2001. He'll be signing autographs, taking photos with fans and doing a Q&A.
 

And lastly, there will be an outdoor screening of “CABIN FEVER” on Saturday night right by the cabin where all the action takes place! This is going to be the ultimate experience for fans of the movie …but please remember - DO NOT SIT NEXT TO DENNIS! ...and who's bringing the pancakes?

Cabins are 1 open room with twin size beds and bunk-beds - all cabins have electricity (limited outlets) and A/C units (no heat), expect for the cabin featured in the movie. When purchasing tickets, you choose which type of cabin you want to stay in. If you want to guarantee that you’ll be rooming with a certain person or group of people at the event, I suggest buying all tickets together as one purchase. If purchased separately you may request to room with a certain person or group, but it’s not guaranteed. Cabins sleep 4-6 people. Camp has shared bathhouses with showers. Please bring your own bed sheets, sleeping bags and pillows - they will not be provided. If you're not interested in staying all night inside one of the cabins with other people and want your own space, you're welcome to camp-out in a tent (tents will not be provided).

- MOVIE CABIN (sleeps 4 people • rustic • no electricity • no A/C • no heat • no bunk • bathhouses in walking distance): MOVIE CABIN IS SOLD OUT!
This is the one and only actual log cabin featured in the movie! Only the exteriors of the cabin were filmed here. This cabin is rustic as it gets - no electricity, no A/C, no heat and no bed or bunk. Twin size air-mattresses will be provided to attendees that reserve a spot in this cabin. The Movie Cabin sleeps 4 people total - tickets are sold per-person and cabin is shared. The layout is one small open room with log steps that lead up to a little loft area. Attendees staying in this cabin will be asked to keep the porch clear so other fans can take pictures in front of the cabin. Bathhouses are in walking distance. 


- VILLAGE CABIN (sleeps 4 people • electricity • A/C unit • bunk-beds • close to bathhouse • close to dining hall):
The Village Cabins are a bunch of small cabins lined up together to make a little village. These are the most modern of the cabins - they all have electricity and A/C units (no heat). The Village Cabins sleep 4 people total in each cabin - tickets are sold per-person and cabin is shared. The layout is one small open room with bunk-beds, wooden chest of drawers and 2 small open closets. If you want to reserve an entire Village Cabin, you can purchase 4 “Village Cabin” tickets together. If you purchase more than 4 tickets, your group will be split up into multiple cabins. There is a big bathhouse just outside the cabins, across the parking lot. These cabins are also very close to the dining hall. 


- VALLEY CABIN (sleeps 10 people - duplex cabin (4 on one side and 6 on the other side) • electricity • A/C unit • single beds & bunk-beds • bathrooms • close to movie cabin): VALLEY CABINS ARE SOLD OUT!
The Valley Cabins are 2 original cabins at the camp - they are old wooded stilt cabins with a large front porch - definitely have 80s camp slasher vibes! These cabins have electricity and A/C units (no heat). The Valley Cabins are duplexes and sleep 10 people total (4 people on one side and 6 people on the other side) - tickets are sold per-person and cabin is shared. The layout is one large open room with single beds and bunk-beds with a private bathroom on each side. If you want to reserve a entire side of one of the Valley Cabins, you can purchase either 4 or 6 “Valley Cabin” tickets together. These cabins are surrounded by nature and near the Movie Cabin.

Join On Set Cinema and He Who Walks Behind The Rows in the small town of Gatlin for a very special weekend celebration of Stephen King’s horror classic “Children of the Corn” where it was filmed!


“Children of the Corn” was filmed in several great small towns throughout western Iowa, but the main event will be taking place on Friday, July 11, 2025 in the heart of Gatlin ...aka in the town of Whiting, where the infamous “Outlander” flagpole still stands today! I'll be screening the movie inside the Whiting City Hall Community Center, right next to the flagpole.


Whiting is home to many great scenes featured in the movie - this is where Burt (Peter Horton) and Vicky (Linda Hamilton) pull into the eerie ghost town in front of Hansen’s Café, where all the adults were killed by the children in the beginning of the movie. This is also where many of the movie’s intense chase scenes take place, and of course where Malachai (Courtney Gains) holds Vicky in front of the flagpole and shouts - “Outlander! Outlander! We have your woman!”


Before the screening on Friday night, fans will get a guided filming locations walking tour of downtown Whiting -  my good friend and “Children of the Corn” historian, John Sullivan and I will show fans where all the movie magic and mayhem took place!


For those eager to explore even more locations from the movie, we’re also offering a filming locations school bus tour on Saturday, July 12, 2025. This 2.5-hour guided tour will take fans to additional filming sites in Hornick and Salix, Iowa - including an exclusive tour of the infamous “Children of the Corn” house! Fans will be able to explore the exterior of the property / house and also get a peek inside. You'll even be able to get a picture standing on the front porch with a sickle!

Hey, wanna play?! Join ON SET CINEMA on Saturday, July 19th for a special screening of “CHILD'S PLAY 3” in Boonville, Missouri at the infamous Kent Military School. This is the actual location where the majority of the movie was filmed! This is the school where Chucky tracks down Andy and kills anyone and everyone who gets in his way.


This school really was an operating military campus known as Kemper Military School when filming took place in 1991. The historic buildings have now been turned into State Fair Community College. 


I'll be showing the movie outside on the lawn in front of the buildings where a bunch of scenes take place - almost all of the military lineup scenes, where the annual war games are introduced and more! I'll also be doing a filming locations walking tour to show fans exactly where everything was filmed. This is going to be an awesome experience for “Child's Play” fans! ...just be careful though - you might turn around and then ...Presto! ...you're dead.

I will be screening the movie inside Lower Columbia Bowling Alley, which is where Chunk spots the Fratelli family police chase in the opening credits of the film and smashes his Pepsi cup and pizza against the window.


Lower Columbia Bowl has been serving Astoria since 1956 and is in the heart of The Goon Docks - located directly down the street from the Oregon Film Museum (aka the County Jail that Jake Fratelli escapes from in the opening), which has a bunch of “Goonies” memorabilia on display. The bowling alley is also located directly by the historic Flavel House Museum (aka the Astoria Historical Museum where Mikey and Brand's dad works in the movie).


Fans can either reserve a group ticket (up to 4 people) that includes a bowling lane to enjoy some bowling before the screening or an individual ticket to simply hang out inside the bowling alley and watch the movie. “The Goonies” soundtrack will be booming and there will of course be Pepsi, pizza and video games!


I will also be doing an additional filming locations bike riding tour around Astoria earlier in the day to show fans where a bunch of other stuff was filmed in the movie, including biking to the infamous “Goonies” house! All of the house exterior scenes were filmed at this location – this is where Jen walks by the house on her way home and hears knocking on the walls, where Stu sings the creepy doctor nursery rhyme, where neighbor Elaine sees Dr. Giggles through the peephole and where the house catches fire and explodes during the film's climactic ending!


I'll be screening the movie inside the park (inside the community hall), almost exactly where the house once stood! “Dr. Giggles” was one of my absolute favorite movies growing up in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, and I can't wait to experience it here with fellow fans.

On Set Cinema is heading to Woodsboro (aka Sonoma, California) on Saturday, October 11th for a very special screening of one of the most beloved horror movies of all time ...Wes Craven's "SCREAM"! I'll be showing the film inside the Sonoma Community Center, which is the actual building that served as Woodsboro High School in the movie!


A bunch of great scenes from the original film took place here - this is where police and news vans line the street in front of the school and Sidney finds out from Tatum that their classmates Casey and Steve were splatter movie killed. We're also first introduced to the iconic Gale Weathers at this location, when she's reporting about the murders for Top Story with cameraman Kenny. This is also where a fellow student runs down the hallway wearing a Ghostface costume, where Stu has a stupidity leak, where Sidney's classroom scenes took place, where Sidney reunites with Billy after accusing him of being the killer and MORE!


Fans will be able to hangout inside the community center and geek out at the locations and then we'll all watch the movie inside the building's auditorium! The soundtrack will be playing and everyone is encouraged to dress up as their favorite character from the movie or in their best 90s gear!


And if you want the ultimate experience, a very limited number of fans will have the incredible opportunity to spend the night inside the school! There will be drinks, snacks, board games and of course a Stab-a-thon into the night! Everyone staying all night will be provided a twin size air-mattress.

ON SET CINEMA: ABOUT

ON SET CINEMA is the brainchild of Kenny Caperton. Growing up in the 80s & 90s, like most kids at the time, he spent Friday nights wandering the aisles of local video stores with friends or at home eating junk food while watching late night cable television.

 

Kenny has always been fascinated by movies, but his love runs much deeper than the average person. He has assimilated his passion for cinema into real life - for over 25 years Caperton has traveled all over the US, Canada and internationally to visit filming locations from his favorite movies and TV shows: Scream, Empire Records, It Follows, The Crush, My Bloody Valentine, The Goonies, My So-Called Life, Slaughter High ...the list goes on and on. He even made a full length feature film that got worldwide distribution without taking a single filmmaking class. Caperton took everything to an entirely new level in 2008 when he decided to build and live in a life-size replica of the infamous Michael Myers' house from his favorite movie of all time - John Carpenter's 1978 horror classic, Halloween.

Kenny truly understands what it means to immerse oneself in something they love and has integrated this into his daily life. Now he wants to share that experience with other fans through On Set Cinema!
